Mulobezi District was formed in the Second quarter of 2012; it is the former Mulobezi constituency of Sesheke District and is situated in the South/East part of the Western Province of Zambia. The district is about 253 km North/West of Livingstone City and 782 km South/West of the Nation’s capital, Lusaka. It shares boundaries with five districts as follows; Luampa district in the North, Sesheke district in the South/West, Kazungula district in the South/East, Senanga district in the North/West, and Mwandi district in the South/East direction.
The district has a surface area of 9,000 Km2 with a population growth rate of 1.9%. The projected population for the district was 42,942 in 2021, giving a population density of about 3.9 persons per square kilometer. The district has about 6,048 households with villages that are sparsely spread all over the district, Mulobezi, Sichili, Bwina, Machile, and Nawinda.
The district has relatively fertile land in many parts, though it has not fully been exploited for farming, a variety of crops are grown with maize, cassava, groundnuts, and beans being the most common, other crops grown are sorghum, millet, and sweet potatoes. The district is under the Chiefdom of Chief Inyambo Yeta whose palace is in Mwandi district. Learn more...
