SUCCESS STORY OF MULOBEZI DISTRICT THROUGH THE CONSTITUENCY DEVELOPMENT FUND(CDF)

Mulobezi District has a total surface area of 12,021 km² and continues to experience a steady population growth rate of 3.4%. According to the 2022 preliminary report by the Zambia Statistics Agency, the district population stood at 46,429 comprising 23,058 males and 23,371 females. This translated into a population density of 3.8 persons per square kilometer.

The district has more than 7,000 households, with villages sparsely spread across the area though more concentrated in growth centers such as Mulobezi, Sichili, Luamuloba  Machile, Kamanga and Kasompa. On average, villages are made up of 6–10 households with 5–10 persons per household. Despite this demographic spread, it is important to note that a large proportion of the population lives below the poverty datum line of less than one dollar a day as highlighted in the Mulobezi Integrated Development Plan.

In response to these challenges, the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) has been a vital instrument in transforming the social and economic landscape of the district.

Between 2022 and 2024 more than 18 classroom blocks were constructed, easing the burden of congestion in schools and giving children a conducive learning environment. In addition, the district has budgeted for the construction of six more classroom blocks in 2025, a clear demonstration of the commitment to sustaining progress in the education sector.

The implementation of CDF initiatives in Mulobezi District has resulted in tangible development gains. Improved school infrastructure, adequate furniture, better housing for service providers and enhanced healthcare access are collectively uplifting living standards and expanding opportunities for the people.

Importantly, these interventions are not isolated achievements but part of a broader journey of resilience and transformation. The district is steadily moving towards reducing poverty, bridging service delivery gaps and ensuring that essential social amenities reach even the most remote households.

Looking ahead, Mulobezi remains committed to leveraging CDF resources to further accelerate development in key sectors  with particular emphasis on education, health and infrastructure.

CDF A GAME CHANGER!!!!!!!!!
